Fast, Simple and Thrifty Leg Warmers for Kids

There are so many fun, bright and colorful knee high socks available to buy at places like Target, for around $2.50 a pair.  Although I personally wouldn't wear them for myself, they make great leg warmers for children with just a couple of easy alterations.  Double up for more of a color splash and pattern statement, wear over leggings or with skirts and dresses.  Here is a simple tutorial on what to do:

$2.50/ pair socks, from hosiery section of Target.

If you want to be accurate, measure off the length of sock you want for the warmers, or be like me and follow the stripe.  Cut off the foot.

Turn inside out, pin up 1/2 inch and sew a seam, stretching the fabric as you go.  I also did a zig zag stitch on the foot portion of the sock to have some fun footies.

Turn right side out and there you go, leg warmers!

My daughter modeling the two pairs together.

We ended up doing a mini session with these fun warmers.

She just loves to ham it up for the camera.

For children photographers, for this price, you could make a bunch in various colors and patterns to add a little whimsy to your prop selection.  Have fun with it!

Seaside

Last weekend our family was able to relax in Seaside and enjoy some very spring-like weather.  Two of us were down with colds, so the goal was to just rest and relax!  Plus, we had lots of ice cream :-)

Below are my favorite snapshots:

Bare feet in sand!

I always love getting shots of the kids running on the beach.  Someday I'll have to make a collage of all our beach trips.

Sunshine Girl took this of Nix Nux Nellie.

Got to get that carousel ride in!

Check out the teeth!

Love this peaceful expression

My girls are getting so big!

Sunshine Girl took this too!  Love it!

At last, the hubby!

The hubby took this on a walk one evening.

The resort.  Nice reflection of the warm light of sunset.

It was a perfect weekend away and we felt rejuvenated after two days of taking in the fresh ocean air.  We are so thankful to be so close to great beaches!
